If you are unsure whether you or your child should have the pneumococcal vaccine, our pharmacist is available to provide advice and guidance. Book your appointment at our pharmacy for expert support and protection against pneumococcal disease.

Most people who need the pneumococcal vaccine can have it, including those who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

You should not have the vaccine if you have previously experienced a serious allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to a previous dose or to any ingredient in the vaccine.

If you or your child have a high temperature or are feeling too unwell to carry out your usual activities, it is best to wait until you are feeling better before having the vaccine.

The pneumococcal vaccine offers the best protection against pneumococcal infections. It helps guard against the most common and severe forms of these infections, although it is still possible to develop a pneumococcal infection after vaccination.

Protection usually develops around three weeks after receiving the vaccine.

Most adults require only one dose for long-term protection, while most babies need two doses to be fully protected.

If you have any questions or concerns, our pharmacist will be happy to advise you at our pharmacy.
